    I want to be able to retrieve my documents and photos if my computer crashes. This external storage seemed a good deal for the price. It shipped immediately and arrived soon. I've not had it long so can't say how long it lasts and if it will do the job.

    I got this drive because I replaced my laptop with 2 internal hard drives with one that has only 1 internal drive. I wanted something with large capacity, and the new USB capabilities. I have always been partial to WD, so I was naturally inclined to look for one. I've been happy with the HDD so far. I have NOT used the auto backup software, so I can't rate that, however, I can say that the drive itself is typical WD quality.
