    I don't know what WD did. This is light weight. Less than half the weight of my old WD 2TB. Real easy to carry in shirt pocket. WD did something to their formatting in 2016,17 rendering their external hard disk incompatible with TVs and BD players. They switched back. This unit works well with my Sony Bluray player and TCL TV. Plug and play.

    The Portable Hard Drive was easy to set-up: Just hook it up to your device and you're done. I hooked it up to an Aluratek Digital TV Converter Box to record a daily soap opera and other programs.
