I used this portable drive to back up my dad's old Macbook in order to update his OS. I also partitioned the drive so he can easily use it as a USB to drag whatever files he wants. Works great and no issues at the moment.

Western Digital makes the most reliable HDD hands down. That bring said you have less chance of failure with their SSD as there are no moving parts, but high Capacity of Solid State Drives such as a 10 TB are not yet available. So the solution is to use the SSD as your startup drive and redundant HDD as your storage drives. Your selection choices are important - you want a HDD drive that has a good chance of being around for at least 3 years, and need a backup drive and/or cloud storage. WD As a pro photographer, WD remains my top choice for most reliable HDD, and SSD, and I have had bad experiences with other brands. If any HDD drive fails and you are not backed up, recovery is both costly, and time consuming if possible at all - so do all you can to reduce that risk.

Nice storage device. It is small, lays flat, will not tip over, easy to install and use. I bought it on sale for $65.00. Good buy at that price.

Very effective hard drive. I am now able to store thousands of pictures from a lifetime of memories.

I have been using External hard drives for a while now to back up my video footage I record for work. Simple SD Card to Hard Drive transfer. Great speed. All is good.

I purchased the external hard drive to facilitate the transfer of records from my old laptop to my new laptop. The drive was very easy to use, quickly saving the records then transferring them.

As a MoJo, mobile journalist, I look for convenience, power, and ease of use when purchasing items to help me do my job each day. This hard drive does that! It's small enough for me to carry with me in my bag and holds a lot of photos I shoot as a photographer. At the end of the week, I can download them on my massive hard drive and post them in the cloud. It's plug-and-play making it convenient to hook up quickly to upload photos and it's pretty fast too! It's a part of my every day routine and thus far, it has taken the abuse of my every day usage just fine.

I bought many WD 2TB External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drives from Best Buy and all have worked very well in storing files and photos. I'd recommend them especially since the price is usually very reasonable

Purchased this as external storage for a PS5. Worked without any issues. Plug in, format and it's good to go. All my PS4 games now reside on my external drive freeing up space on the internal SSD. Highly recommend.
