My old movies are stored on an old Gateway PC. I wanted to make sure I archived them separately, so I bought this Western Digital external hard drive. I've trusted WD for decades now and only have had one or two die on me. Overall, WD hard drives have been very reliable for me. This particular hard drive is plenty fast for the low resolution and 4K video content I have collected. The drive is quiet and simply plugs into the USB port on my computers. Recommended.

Very nice hard drive. Bought it to connect to a digital TV converter box / recorder and it formatted quickly and was ready to go.

My 8-year old (ancient!?) external hard drive started giving me trouble. It was taking longer to back up a file but worse it some times "disappeared". Rebooting the system brought it back but I have too many files to risk it failing if the computer konks out. I looked for a replacement external hard drive and zeroed in on the WD 2 Tb USB portable hard drive. So far, I am happy with it. It's easy to install. I'd have given it 5 stars except that I didn't like the "auto-backup" feature that seemed to take forever. The drive comes with a utilities program that allowed me to stop the auto-back up. I've been used to backing up everything I do dating back to the 2-floppy era so, thank you, I'll do it when I want to. If it lasts as long as its predecessor, I'll be highly pleased.

This hard drive works exactly as advertised. I bought it to back up a MacBook Pro, and it’s working great so far. Really good size too.

This is my first experience with an external hard drive. This product does everything it states. I wasn't expecting to have to download and create an account to use the product and it could have been more user friendly. I hope I don't regret not spending the extra on a solid slate, but that's on me.
