This hard drive works very well and has a ton of space. I got it at an excellent price and I am very satisfied so far.

This drive worked out of the box and I immediately backed up my computer hard drive with no problems. The drive is rather lightweight. The plastic enclosure doesn't have the "feel" of quality. I would not expect it to survive a 5 foot drop. I was having issues with my computer and wanted to immediately back up the files and BB had this drive in stock. Since then I have attributed that the problem with the computer was likely a MS update that must have been buggy. It had corrupted two different camera flash drives, (I was able to recover those pictures and MP4's with Sandisk recovery software that came free with the purchase of the right Sandisk flash drive.) I believe that another update fixed these problems.

Best Buy has been selling these WD drives under the "easystore" trademark for less than the WD branded equivalent drives. They come with a year less warranty but there has to be a trade-off for the lower price. With WD reliability that shouldn't be a concern. If a drive is going to fail it will be a case of infant mortality or old age. You're covered if it's the former and neither WD or "easystore" will be covered once the drive gets beyond the warranty period which is very,very likely.

Bought this portable drive to use with my laptop while traveling

Provided the needed space for all the pics which I had on the desk top, which I have disposed of. Easy to install too.

This was an upgrade for me having previously used smaller size WD portable drives. This is fine so far although it's the long term you have to think about.

I always like having a portable storage hard drive with me while travelling on business or vacation. This fits the bill nicely.
