At first the sleep timer was a hassle and is still only 30 minutes max. But it seems to wake up when addressed after 30 minutes. I have an older 1tb model that goes to sleep and can only wake with restart PC

Mac users (as myself) can use the Windows formatting as-is with no problem, but I prefer the drive to be Mac native. No problem! Plug the drive in, launch "Disk Utility" and reformat to Macintosh Journaled. Takes but a minute. Go for it!

I have a newer model and it isn’t compatible with the newer macs which would have been good to know. I did return it to buy the WD HD for Mac. If you have a PC I do recommend!

I bought one of those before, and I am impressed with both drives. I use this one for my Time Machine backups. It did need to be formatted before using, but that didn't take very long. Very happy with my purchase!
