Customer Ratings & Reviews

I have used this product for years and have always been happy.

Our computer was about to go down forever. We needed storage for files and pictures. This was exactly what we needed. It would've been helpful if there had been some kind of instructions.

Bought this item for my son. He takes a lot of photos. And this item worked out perfect. I love how the people at Best Buy were there to help. With answering all our questions.

Reasonably priced and works well for my second computer backup. Easy to use.

This backup drive works well and the software with it is fast

I had originally purchased this product to use on my PlayStation 4 as an expanded hard drive. I soon came to find out that my drive was frequently been corrupted because it was not totally compatible. I ended up having to use it for my PC instead. If you buy this can you plan on using it for computer storage it will work just fine, but definitely not good for gaming storage.

just what i needed to back up my systems. grabbed it on sale.

the hard drive worked perfect it was quick and easy to set up.

I had to learn to use it,im not tech smart, not much more

I was having an issue with my laptop and took it in to the GEEK SQUAD to look at. They said I needed to have a backup storage unit to save off my data. This unit was perfect for that chore.

Good external hard disk easy to use high speed and small

I had this hard drive for nine months and while I loved using it during that time, one day it stopped showing up on my computer when I plugged it in. I took it to Geek Squad and they kindly assisted me straight away. Unfortunately they couldn’t get it to show up on their computers either likely due to a physical error and all of my data is gone, unless I want to spend at least 500$ to attempt a data recovery. To me, the whole point of this drive was as a secure backup for important files which are now lost unless I want to pay at least five times my initial investment. If you have any concerns regarding data security, I would recommend doing more research and finding a reliable device. Even if it’s more expensive, it’s better to pay a higher initial investment than to be in my shoes facing a steep cost less than a year later. Either that, or buy two and keep that second one as a backup and take very very good care of it. After this experience, I may start looking towards other manufacturers or data storage techniques as I don’t want to lose everything again.

Purchased hard drive for stepson to make more drive space on his computer. The external drive was used for gaming. Once the game are playing from WD there is not much lag. Definitely would recommend for gaming

I have several of these external hard drives and have not had one fail yet. I have one basically attached to my computer at all times. There is plenty of room for what I want to use them for and yet keep things separated..

Easily backs up with 2 TB of storage and I like that its slimmer.

A little finicky with some Linux-native backup tools, but otherwise OK. Doesn't seem to agree with backintime or kup, for some reason. After formatting, make sure permissions are set properly

This external hard drive connects with no problems (no software to agree to or install,) and is simple to use. It showed up immediately in Windows Explorer and so far has truly been an easystore.

I am very pleased with this hard drive. I would recommend it.

I purchased as a backup for my kids Xbox One S games. I literally plugged it in and within 5 mins the drive was self formatted and games were backed up. They now have room for over 40 games.

We've had an old iPad 2 that was starting to act up, so this new version was a great compromise -- getting a new, more reliable machine, and not spending a fortune either. My wife is quite pleased with her Christmas gift.
