Could not make included software work
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The drive itself seems fine and a very good value. One of the first things the instructions say is to "register" the device, but when you go online, it says "registration not supported for this." Also, the Western Digital software would not load on my Windows 10 computer and it is claimed to work on Windows 10. Finally got the Western Digital backup software to load but it would not recognize the drive. Tried all sorts of advice from the WDC site customer base such as making sure to have the most recent program version, most recent drivers version, turning off firewalls, making sure the "WD Helper" application was running, and more. After struggling with this for two hours, gave up on WDC software and installed a third party backup software which worked fine. WDC should either deliver something that will in fact work out of the box, or provide a MUCH easier way to get help when it doesn't work.
