It turns out that is a common problem because there's so much junk pre-installed, that I needed to erase the drive before adding anything of my own. With such basic inadequacy, I do not trust it to hold my files. I will be getting a different HD tomorrow and look forward to it being better than this.

The directions for hook-up are very simple, and I have not had issues thus far. Just remember the device must be plugged directly in the USB port of your console, otherwise your console will not detect it.

Each time I have a new project, I purchase a drive. I never like having everything in just one drive so I split things up and always have data redundancy by coping the files to more than one WD drive.
