I bought because my 15 year old portable hard drive was not always wanting to boot up. After 5 months this product has failed beyond recovery. a chip on the board is getting blazing hot as soon as it's plugged in. I have lost 5 months of files. I have learned my lesson and I'm going to the cloud.

This was a gift to my son and his family. It seems to get very hot, to the touch after a short while. This was not discovered until it was too late to return. It was a great buy, but not pleased with performance.

I got this 2 terabyte drive on sale for $60 - a price that's hard to beat. It doesn't seem to back up as fast as the other drive I have, but that may be because I'm using time machine. Still, a good back up hard drive for an amazing price.

Great value; small firm factor, quiet, and very quick data transfer and access. Great backup for family photos and documents.

Using primarily as a DVR with DISH Wally box, be sure to disconnect when not using as Wally never turns it off, otherwise will die prematurely.

Bought to back up computer hard drive. Plugged the external drive into the computer and backed up the internal hard drive. Seamless!

To store big files to hard drive. Con: HDD is very sensitive to heat. Pro: Comes with software on hard drive.

This item was purchased to use as a program storage unit. I have not been able to get any of my programs that I put on it to work from there. It is a nice storage item for documents and pictures though.

Plugged it into my plex server, filled it up with media, and it works. Not the fastest drive out there, but perfect for non-critical media storage.

Contacted bestbuy chat department as I wanted a harddrive where i can back up my files on both my mac and my pc. I was recomended this model and it was on sale. It arrived in 1 day, great, no? I proceeded to download the software on my mac and my macback pro 2019 has a software that is too recent and paragon, the software needed to read files on my mac is not compatible . What kind of BS is this? the latest update released by paragon for mac OS was in 2019. Extremely disapointed. Now i have to go to a store to return it, Thanks bestbuy for wasting my time!!

the external drive is great buy for the money converted to two external into the 2tb and still have lots of space left would recommend it..
