It got to 18% and froze. I tried several times with the same results. I contacted WD via chat and after several questions and waiting, I was told that I really didn't need to install the software. I could use the device via file explorer. I asked what the software would allow me to do and was told that it would allow me to trouble shoot. I am returning it today.

Games download to the external USB drive by default when that feature is enabled. The blue LED was bright but I turned the drive to face the wall.
