Joke of a Product

If you have a Mac or MacBook and want a simple external storage device then this NOT the product for you.
Basically what I want from a hard drive is to plug it in and start dragging files into it. Should be a simple process that takes seconds.
Despite being literally called "EASYSTORE" this is a painstaking process.
It is more designed to use its backup software (which requires internet for some reason?) to backup your computer or hard drive. Rather than a simple storage device.
Even AFTER installing the driver software on the drive, I still cannot drag and drop files onto the drive. Googled it and there are multiple hoops you have to go through just to be able to use this thing as an external hard drive. The solutions for this problem all come from third party sources btw. Not from WD. Not from Best Buy. Not in the instructions. THAT'S RIDICULOUS. Waste of time and money, just buy another hard drive that works straight out of the box.

So I just received this and installed it with my MAC. I managed to reformat it so it will be compatible with my MAC, but I was not sure I'd be able to figure it out. I won't say it was terrible hard, but it wasn't as easy as just plugging it in and hitting "backup." You have to be able to navigate through a few websites in the help link to find directions to reformat it for MAC. A little more complicated than I would have liked. I'm not super computer savvy, so having to do things like this makes me nervous. Didn't like that, but I can't give a bad review just because I'm not savvy. I just think the description for the product should warn people like me that reformatting it may take 15 minutes and require you to go through a few different links to find the directions.

If you have Mac, you'll need to reformat it. But now that I have, it works great for me so far!

Great little USB connected Hard Drive with Huge Capacity. On Sale for real savings. My use is strictly drag and drop of files from my desktop every month-end to backup my data. Extensive software is included for both PC and Mac using some 3 gigabytes of space. (Retired a five year old USB Hard drive while it was still working fine.)

I've been using this product since 2019. It is well cared for. It seldomly leaves my desk. I've protected it from the elements. I've kept ports clean. Yet, here I am. Constantly experiencing interruptions in my editing workflow as the drive continuously disconnects from my computer. It started about a year and a half ago but the original solution was positioning the cord and drive in an "optimal" position. Now, it does not matter the position, this thing will screw up my projects and workflow regardless. I've spent countless hours wasting time trying to keep this drive connected. I could certainly understand troubles with an item that has been beat up, but this is not the case.

It works as far as storage, but when i tried to install the WD Backup driver I couldn't get it to work. Windows 11. Tried on my laptop and desk top. Went to the WD website. No luck, no help. Wont buy another one from WD again.

ABSOLUTE TRASH, do not buy!. I dont know how anyone could rate this for "ease of use", it is literally the most complicated thing to use. WD forces you to use their software, which is actually 2 different softwares to install. It originally installs as a Read Only and won't let you write on the drive until you install the software. Horrendously annoying to use. Drag and Drop to copy files is almost impossible. Took me over an hour to even get 1 file onto it. Im returning it, literally the worst external drive I've ever used.

However, the kid who’s Xbox this drive is hooked up to isn’t known for his grace, so I’m sure it’s taken a knock or two. He said the drive got hot and stopped working.

Hard to Figure Out -No Quick Start Manual Included

I'm a strong computer user and can figure out things pretty well, but found getting this external hard drive very difficult to operate. I looked online on the manufacturer's website for info and there's a user manual, but not very intuitively written! I started backing up my laptop hard drive and it took 1 hr. 5 mins. to do 17%, or 11.18GB. I contacted support and did the chat option so it would be quicker. Unfortunately, the tech support guy was also not very intuitive, so it took him 2-3 responses to answer my questions. Finally, he helped me do the drag and drop option to backup rather than using the software option. Needless to say, I was never offered the former option when I was installing, plus I never got the quick start manual that's supposed to come with the product. Very confusing and I still don't know whether my info is really backed up or not. Can't they have someone write the manual (and manage to insert it in every package) who is not a tech geek and can explain in step-by-step instructions that are easy to understand? I'm disappointed.

Bought this for my wife based on reviews here. It worked fine for a while, but now it’s having issues with a game she downloaded to it. We are now having to replace it.
