I've never had one problem with these external hard drives. Got one for ps4 pro and one for my Xbox one x. Excellent price too.

I'm using this drive as my Time Machine back-up. To be sure it would work correctly it required reformatting for the macOS. Once this was done (in a few minutes) it's been reliably doing its thing in the background for weeks now. Quite and has a light that blinks to ensure me that it's on and powered up. No problems (but it's young).

I wanted something better than a bunch of 1TB USB drives for my desktop pseudo-server network. I am going with several 4TB, 5TB and 8TB drives on a router attached to a large 3.0 USB hub. Looks good so far. Not as good as a professional server system, but with a good router and duplicate and backup software this should work well.

I purchased this to expand the space on my Xbox One X, things couldn’t have gone smoother. The load was quick, the console recognized it immediately and playing games directly from the unit is seamless. Highly recommended!

Got this on special deal, no doubts what so ever , I had to buy. Bought this primarily to back up data for long term as well as buying a 2nd one for a plex server . IF you need huge storage (not for every day) but for long term and especial for plex, I highly recommend. Its easy as plug & play.

Best Buy's exclusive version of the Western Digital My Book is ready to use on all the popular desktop operating systems, with optional software included to simplify backup and other services. Unlike other My Book models, this version comes without built in hardware encryption. From personal experience, that's an advantage, as my older 2 TB model sits unused in its box full of inaccessible data after a failed firmware update. I purchased two 4 TB models and am pleased to see they are plug-and-play simple when connected to any of several Windows and Linux machines I have connected and backed up so far.

I'll start by saying that this is not my first one of these drives. I have another one that has been a backup drive for about a year and a half, with no hiccups. This purchase disappointed. I plugged it in upon receiving it to make sure it worked, then unplugged and set aside while I rearranged my desk layout to make sure it had plenty of space and would not be easily tipped over. Of course, after I set everything back up, I plugged it in and the power light flashed, and then nothing. From this point on I could not get the drive to power on again. I was forced to return it. Based on my previous experience with the other one of these drives I have, it has been very reliable and transfer speeds are relatively fast, even though this is not an SSD. I have not experienced any issues with this drive getting hot, although it has some decent ventilation if it does. On a physical note, the case of this drive is shiny black plastic, so it is a fingerprint magnet. However, it is very sleek looking, and the power light is very small, so it will not light up a dark room.

I found this on sale and bought it in a heartbeat. It would have been better if it does not need a power source.
