Will not work with any other cord than supplied. Cannot connect to Mac even after reformatting. Lost entire contents and now they want you to pay to have them attempt to recover lost data.

I needed extra storage for my playstation, so picked it up at a good price. Set up was easy and have been using it for few years. This hard drive meets all my expectations.

Cannot get it to back up my system. It came with no instructions. It will never complete a backup. Emailed WD and still have not heard anything.

    Xbox One Plug and Play

I bought this hard drive specifically for the purpose of expanding the storage capacity of my Xbox one. After some research and deciding to go with WD over Seagate, I landed on this hard drive. Luckily for me, I got the last one at my local Best Buy for $110. I read previous reviews here that said it was compatible with Xbox One, but wow! It is literally a plug-and-play hard drive for the Xbox One. When you turn your console on with the hard drive plugged in, it will ask if you want to format the hard drive. That takes about 60 seconds then you're good to go! Very happy with the ease of use of this hard drive. Highly recommend for anyone looking to increase memory storage for Xbox One! I will report back in the coming months.

Good value, can be shucked for internal use

I bought two of these drives while they were on sale for $89.99 with the purpose of shucking them (i.e. removing the drives from the external container) and placing them in my file server as a RAID. The drives are "white label", 64MB cache generic WD drives and they can work away from their enclosure just fine... but if you want to use them as external drives, you can do that too. No complaints!

This is a great buy for local backups and “cold” media storage. WD doesn’t disappoint.

Purchasing this for $79.99 was a no brainer to get a reliable 4Tb external drive for my MacOS High Sierra computer via Time Machine. Super easy to reformat for Mac, was backing up in no time at all. I highly recommend this external drive. Take advantage of the online support resources at support.wd.com

Works Great For Multiple Computer Backups

    Posted .

What a great price for 4TB drive. After 2 Seagate Backup Plus drives failed, I thought I would give this drive a try. I have always had great results with WD drives. I have an 8 year old 320 GB My Passport Essential that is still working great. I wanted a high capacity drive to connect to my TP-Link Archer C9 Router USB 3.0 port and back up two computers. Took me less than 30 minutes to configure the router and two computers. I am using Windows File History to back up my data and will also create System Images of both computers.

Good drive, disappointed by WD software

    Posted .

The drive works fine, lots of capacity and writes to the drive over USB 3.0 are nice and fast. Disappointed by the WD easystore software/bloatware. The installation took much longer than it should. When I kicked off a backup, it dribbled out the writes at such a slow rate, it would have taken days to finish a backup of about 0.5 TB of data. So, I canceled the backup, uninstalled the WD software, and am now in search of 3rd party backup software.

Best Buy had a great discount on this 4TB drive that I couldn't refuse. They are wise to toss in some bonuses for buying in order to stay competitive. The drive is very quiet and fast. Small and lightweight. For Mac, you'll need at least 10.8 OSX to run the driver and reformat the drive for Mac (can't do it with Apple Disk Utility). Very happy with Best Buy and the drive.

    RED DRIVE

I just picked up another 4TB Easystore (4-3-18) and after shuck the case I was happy to find that they are still using the NAS RED drive. Most of the time I have found that the drives made in Thailand have the RED drives in them.
