I've had no read-write problems. I have a number of WD drives and have had no problem with any of them. My hesitation in giving this drive a higher rating after a couple months use is that it makes noise when in use; not sure how to describe it, but it's like something isn't aligned quite right. In any case, it's a sound that's not come from any of my other drives.

Is being used as an external storage for my Xbox One. Seems to work so far. Only complaint is the drive makes a wobblying sound when it spins up. Like it's off balance. Didn't have this issue with the older model My Book.

Drive had issues

Began to make a grinding noise that was unpleasant. Also couldn't get the internal apps to work half the time. The first 2 months, everything went fine. Not sure what happened. Could had just been a bad batch of product. I typically stick with WD items for backup purposes. I would recommend this product, but I'd go ahead and purchase a warranty with it, just in case.

Works great as a once-a-month backup of another drive where it can just be left to chew through a pile of files all day (preferably while you are out of the house so you don't have to hear it).
