A: This specific drive here makes absolutely no noise whatsoever. It only has a little led light that flashes here’s Nd there but as for the noise there is none.

A: Greetings: I saw your question only today. I hope my response is timely/helpful. I assume it is a 10 TB (not 10 GB, as you have written) drive. I have a Windows laptop. I had a similar problem of the drive not being detected/recognized. A new driver from wd.com was downloaded and installed. Since then it has worked fine. These are simpler drives with a long-established design. They should not fail easily.
Q: Will this work for a PS4 storage drive?
A: Yes. It is currently hooked up to mine.
Q: Does this drive go to sleep when not in use?
A: Yes it does. I use it for my xbox one and when I shut it off it goes into a sleep mode.
A: yes. you MIGHT have to format (erase) it using disk utility. but once you do that. it will be great. (i do that with any new external drive anyway). when erasing, choose: - osx journaled if you only plan to use it with macs - exfat if you plan to use it with both mac and windows
