What is In-Wall Power Extension service? Can I use this to have my plug-in moved closer to the TV power cord?

Our In-Wall Power Extension (IWPE) installation allows video and audio products to be plugged in directly behind your TV. However, fire code regulations prevent a TV power cord from plugging into this extension (see the previous question for details about installing a new outlet). The cost for In-Wall Power Extension varies, so please call 1-800-433-5778 to get an estimate for your installation. You can also take advantage of our freeIn-Home Consultation.Note:This service does not include modification of existing outlets or any high voltage wiring. You must arrange for any required electrical modifications to be made before we may install an IWPE kit.

How long will the installation take?

When you schedule your service, your appointment time will fall within a 4-hour window. Your Agent(s) may arrive at any point within that 4-hour window, and the service may be completed outside of the 4-hour arrival window. While there are a number of factors that can affect the length of an appointment, a standard TV Mounting and Installation job usually lasts between 90 and 120 minutes.

Which mounts are compatible with my TV?

Nearly all TVs are VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) compliant, which means they have a standard hole pattern for mounting onto a bracket. You likely won't have to worry about it, but you can confirm that a TV mount is VESA compliant by reading your TV’s instruction manual, or by consulting with us prior to the day of installation.

Can you install a TV mount into any wall material?

Yes, we can install into almost any kind of wall material and and will let you know if there are obstacles to doing so. There is no extra charge for installing a TV mount into a standard-frame wall with drywall. For harder materials, such as brick, concrete, stone, cinder block and hollow block, there will be an extra charge of $99.99. Can I mount a TV above my fireplace?

This is a common installation for us. However, wall material like brick and the location of your fireplace to your home theater equipment can make it more of a challenge. For these harder materials, such as brick, concreate, stone, cinder block and hollow block, there will be an extra charge. Also, keep in mind that the placement might be too high for comfortable or clear viewing, and heat damage could become an issue. How high should my TV be mounted?

When choosing where to mount a TV, you need to think about more than just aesthetics. If you mount your TV too high, for example, you might find that it causes neck strain, or that your view of the screen isn't optimal. We can help you take these many factors into account, including how many people will be watching at one time, whether you'll be lying down, sitting up or standing, screen size, room aesthetics and potential glare from any windows when you decide where to place your TV. Can I reuse my existing mounting hardware with my new TV?

You will need to determine if your existing mount is VESA compliant. VESA is a standard that is used for TV mounting brackets, and it is followed by the majority of TV manufacturers. This means that new TVs conform to a set of standards for the four mounting holes located on the back of each TV. The VESA Mounting Interface Standard defines the distance in millimeters between a TV's mounting holes (distance horizontally x distance vertically). Common VESA sizes are 200 x 200 for TVs up to 32" class, VESA 400 x 400 for TVs up to 60" class and VESA 600 x 400 for larger screen sizes (e.g. 75" class or 85" class). After you remove your old TV, measure the distances between the holes on the back of the TV. Then check your new TV manual for the VESA standard to see whether your old TV wall mount is compatible. If it's not, or if the weight of your new TV is drastically different, you'll likely need to purchase a new TV wall mount. Also, be aware that we will not uninstall an existing TV mount from its current location and install it into a new location.

Will you hook up my soundbar or receiver to my TV as part of this service?

No, but we do offer that service separately. Setup and connection of audio devices is not included with our TV mounting service. If you need help connecting your soundbar, receiver or speakers, see our separate service forSoundbar Connect.

I forgot to purchase a product that's needed for the installation. Can you help?

Typically, yes, we will have a variety of products in their vehicle that can be purchased at the time of your installation. Quantity, availability and selection will vary.Note:Depending on your location, one of our trusted third-party contractors may be used for your service instead of Geek Squad.

Q: Will you program my remote control as part of this service?

We’ll program the remote that came with your TV or we’ll program your current satellite/cable remote. If you need a universal remote programmed, please see our separate service forRemote Control Programming.

Q: What kind of HDMI cable should I buy? How long should it be?

To find the proper length HDMI cable to fit your needs, make sure to consider the distance between your TV and your HD components. You should choose in-wall rated cable if you plan to run your connections through walls (for example, when the TV is mounted and you want a clean look). Look for cables that come with extra-tight connectors, which are important for keeping things secure when using products like a full-motion TV mount. More expensive cables are made of higher-quality materials and come with a higher data transfer speed rating measured in gigabits per second (Gbps). This allows more bandwidth for streaming 4K Ultra HD and HDR content and helps to ensure signal purity, which is especially important when running cable over longer distances.

Q: Are you able to hide all of the cables?

By selecting TV Setup & Mounting, all of your in-wall rated cables will be hidden if your TV is directly above your cable TV or satellite TV hookup, and the installation will occur in a single space between the wall studs. If home theater equipment needs to be located away from your TV, this will complicate the in-wall installation and require a custom solution to be ordered, which may require an additional charge. Your TV power cord cannot be hidden in-wall because of fire code regulations, but we can use a cable concealer if needed. Q: Do I need to have a power outlet near the location in which my TV will be mounted?

Yes, we recommend 12 feet as the maximum distance between the TV and outlet. While we can't hide your power cable in-wall because of fire code regulations, we can use a cable concealer to limit the amount of cord that is visible. Be aware that our mounting service does not include the modification of existing outlets or any high voltage wiring. You must arrange for any required electrical modifications to be made before we arrive if an outlet needs to be installed closer to the mounting location. The Geek Squad reps were very friendly and professional. They delivered/mount my LG C2 83” Oled TV. They also offered to setup my speakers and subwoofer. One can tell that they are knowledgeable about what they were doing in regards to the setups. The only reason a rated them four stars instead of five was because while one of the agents went to the van to get a tool/material the out-of-tv fell flat to the carpet. The agent was not attentive…after a closer look there was no physical damage to the tv…although it was a scary moment…hopefully the tv stays great as expected-thus, I’d torally recommend the total tech membership for such a large purchase

The tech that came out to install the was extremely knowledge about how and where to best place my tv on the wall. They both wore shoe coverings and the even removed the outlet housing for me so they it didn’t block the tv. Best of off they called ahead and suggested that they bring a wall mount of comparable price with them because they saw that the one I ordered was unlikely to be delivered in time due to it coming from a different facility. This was excellent advice and care!! They make everything so flawless and easy thank you so much!!

The employee was very nice and friendly. He discussed the options with us ahead of time for mounting and explained where we could mount and why. He even helped set up the TV and offered to help with setting up streaming services, I believe. He did accomplish very swiftly as well. Overall 10/10 service, would recommend to a friend, may be the best service I’ve ever had from a home appointment

I can’t say enough positive things about the 2 fellows who installed my TV…. They called when they were on the way, were in time, were efficient, were pleasant, cleaned up after themselves, returned the bracket that I purchased and didn’t end up needing for me, and texted me to confirm the return the next day. They were beyond 5 stars!!

The agents mounted my TV with no issues. Quick easy and finished the job in a timely manner. They asked where would I like the TV mounted and hung. They also set everything to one remote. That way I would not have a bunch of remotes.

They came out in a few days..not weeks, like others, and got that big TV on the wall with a quickness. I liked that they went over a few options first,then...wham bam done! Programmed the remotes, set up all our channels, cleaned up and were gone! Didn't mess with wiring because we have a cabinet being made.
