I've ran 6TB NASes on Linux (old school) that were heavy, noisy, big. I decided my 10 year old Intel NAS (yes Intel used to make them) needed replacing and this drive is tiny and light and FAST.

I’m so glad I chose the 4 TB. I didn’t realize how many files I was going to back up. I love how easy it is to back up to this external drive.

Lot's of space, great price. WD My Book storage units have been reliable for years. I just bought two 4TB units and they passed rigorous I/O tests prior to use.

I've read all the reviews here and on other sites about drive failures after just a few weeks or months, so I may have to downgrade my rating at some point. But so far, the drive has been performing very well, and meets all my needs for expansion storage. I can't comment on performance, since I'm running it with USB 2.0 and using it just for non-compute intensive light duty file storage, but again, for my needs it's what I need.

Bought this to sit on my desk and it looks and works great. I keep all my photos on the hard drive and will be getting a second one the have a backup copy.

Formatted this drive with 2 partitions. First is used as a Time Machine for my Mac. Second used for media storage. No issues at all. Great.

I purchased this after the PS4 update that allowed external drives and it was a breeze to set up and it's been working flawlessly since. Couldn't be happier.

Small desktop footprint. Light weight. Tough shell. Much better than a USB key drive for small mobile backing up. Definitely an improvement over the MyBook.

Western Digital has always been reliable for me and for the price their 3 or 4 GB drives offer a great option for backing up my files.

Good price for the amount of storage you get. I have it attached to my server and use it as the server backup. So yes, I backup and then backup my backup.

I got this for a family member as an archive drive, and while it's early days yet, WD remains the best hard drive vendor -if- one buys the drives anywhere besides Amazon or Ali-Express. Genuine WDs are really worth the peace of mind. This external drive is not the fastest, but that's fine because it's meant for archival\backup and data transport by lay folks. Among its peers it's middle-of-the-pack. Anyway, I read that the drive inside of this enclosure is of better stock than the one in the other cheaper consumer WD external drives.

I am completely satisfied with my new hard drive. The speed improvement coming from a USB 2.0 device is very noticeable. The unit is quiet and sturdy.

I bought this hard drive to expand my Xbox One's storage capacity. Couldn't be happier. Easy to set up and runs faster than the Xbox's internal drive.

I shoot 4k video and edit on 2 separate machines. As we all know 4k videos can be huge and can take up a ton of HDD space. Having 2 of these Externals has made it so much easier for me to store my files and connect them to which ever machine I need. The only problem I had was one of my desktops not booting with the hard drive plugged in. After some digging I figured out how to fix it through a little BIOS manipulation. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that needs extra storage space that they may not need access to all the time!

Simple to use. Just "plug and play." This unit is durable. Everything is included in the package. This product works with Windows and Apple. I never had a problem with WD External Hard Drives. Just remember to disconnect the proper way. And it will last you beyond the expected use. Best Buy is great because they do price matching. And . . . this WD Hard Drive is readily available at most Best Buy Stores, including here in Hawaii
