Needed external drive for iMac. Worked as described out of the box. Partitioned the drive for multiple users.

Over several years, I have purchased 10 My Book 4TB External Hard Drives. They have all worked flawlessly. I did have one that went bad but most likely, it was my fault. I had dropped it two times and in both instances, it hit the floor hard. Since all the other hard drives work fine, I decided it give it a 5 star rating.

Easy to setup. A lot of space. Quiet. Fast transfer between PC and drive.

This is my second WD external hard drive. I've used one like it to back up computer files for several years with no issues, so when I decided to get an over-the-air recorder which required an external hard drive, I bought this one. It is quick and I've had no negative issues with it, just like the other one.

You can backup all your data & photos in one location. So far works great!

I am now able to move documents or videos that I don’t look at anymore and put them on the hard drive. Now my air mac has room again and is working great! If I decide I need something on their I must open it up and move it back to my computer. I keep my relatives who have passed on my commuter but store them in the external drive too. That way if something happens I will always have them.

Easy install and works just fine. Very quiet and files load just as fast as the internal drive if not faster!

It seems that WD doesn't make My Books for Macs any more. Instead they offer this 'Mac-compatible' hard drive. I was worried about my ability to format it for Mac use, but the WD support information that detailed how to do it made it surprisingly easy. I've had no trouble using it on my Mac.
