Had to return the drive within few days. Not reliable as the similar previous WD MyBook 4TB USB 3.0 model.

This item diesnt no deseve not even a star, bought two had to return them back to best buy.

Drive failed after 3 weeks of purchase. I have 2 others that are working just fine.

I still can not get it to work my computer won't even come up with it plugged in

Love the Western Digital products but was a little more complicated than plug and play. Drive works fine but needed to take a few extra steps to get the drive up and running. Windows didn't recognize the drive after several reboots, needed to a drive number not the worst of you know what your doing but could complicate or cause problems for inexperienced users. Downloaded the utilities showed the drive, felt the utility should ber more friendly in making this hassel free. After install drive works great very happy, price point fits almost any budget. Included software works flawlessly.

WD drives are my go-to. Love the desktop hard drives.

Was really easy to set up with my PS4, no joke it took 2 minutes as its USB and it formatted for the PS4 in just a few seconds. The interface with the external memory with the ps4 is great..even though that has nothing to do with this specific HD. Would recommend :)

Overall the design is good and well built. Transfer are fast. 4TB is plenty for the average user to save any file. Works on both MAC and PC. Worth the purchase.

Purchased to expand my game capacity for my Xbox One. It installed easily and I was able to start transferring my games from the internal hard drive to the external with ease.

Bought to replace my older 3TB MyBook. Faster than my older one; would recommend.

Just installed new WD My Book. I DID NOT install the WD software for Mac and choose to simply erase and reformat (Mac OS Extended Journaled) for use with Time Machine. Installation was flawless and my initial full backup is scheduled to take about 2 hours for the 225 GB of memory currently in use. Drive is very quiet with little discernible vibration and the only negative is that Western Digital should have spent 75cents more and included an activity led on the front of the drive.

I bought this because my kids filled the 500GB hard drive on their Xbox One S. Moving the already installed games was easy and installing new games goes quicker now. Also playing games is faster now with games being loaded off the external drive.

A straightforward, easy to use external hard drive. Excellent for media storage or system backups. Two accessories would be nice to offer: a stand to improve stability (harder to tip over) and a protective carrying case for safer transport when needed.
