It's loud and randomly turns on and off to the point of being annoying when there is nothing being saved to it. Nothing. It's just an okay product.

Because of my computer, so I have been told, I cannot restart my computer with the external drive connected. Must disconnect and then reconnect after restart. This is a pain for automatic updates that must restart computer. Everything else seems to be okay for now.

These are used and transported alot...so the data cable and/or the power cables get worn out and fail. I hope this one lasts longer.

Used as a backup drive. Works fine for that. Not sure why WD decided to NOT include a drive access light though. Poor choice on their part!! I would not recommend this for a novice user. Disconnecting at the wrong time can cause data loss.

Hopefully I just got a bad drive, but this is the quickest that I've had a drive fail on me. I bought it on Sept 2, 2019 and it stopped working on Sept 5, 2020... Just after the 1 year warranty expired. luckily I was able to have someone retrieve my files. The drive is also pretty loud compared to my WD - easystore so I definitely won't be buying another one of these.

I bought this as a Time Machine for my iMac. I didn't work properly. I found out that other users were having the same problem. I took it back to Best Busy and swapped it out for a Lacie drive.

Works well for backing up my desktop with the exception that it can't be plugged in when I start the computer up. I've had that same problem with other Western Digital drives.

This will be my 3rd Book and I always have 2 going. They last a little over a year with constant use. I mainly like the WD backup software with them and I keep them backed up to each other and on Google cloud so I'm covered.

    Too big

The reason for the 3 star rating is because this item is too big and it has a power cord and a USB cord rather than just a USB cable like my other external hard drive. The product works for what it is made for though.

It’s a good hard drive however it comes with a short a** cord, not to mention I thoroughly dislike slim tall standing designs when hard drives are not supposed to move when in use,

It was a good price, it looked good and would hold a lot of stuff, but it was way too complicated for me, so returned it to get a plug and use.

This drive serves it's purpose. I store my files in the drive then unplug it after. However, the drive is kind of slow compared to another WD drive I have. Other than that, no issues.

Installed the WD utility software on my MAC and formatted the drive for use with TimeMachine. The Utility SW caused a conflict with TM and had to be removed to get it to work – not good! This purchase was to replace my last My Book that was failing after a few years. I planned to use the old housing with a new drive. Turns out WD makes it impossible to replace the drive which I was not happy with. I'll never buy a WD My Drive again.

These are great drive but I had to return my last one because of some issues in file transfers. I have two others and they were perfectly fine. I probably just got a factory dud.

This is the second one of these I've bought and the first one is still running. This second one gave me problems from the start. It is now "DEAD" and I hope they replace it.

It’s just ok. It’s not easy to use as I hoped for. I wanted a device that made it very easy to store items but too many steps to be taken.

It's a great size for my backup needs, but is very slow to come out of "sleep" mode. I leave it plugged in all the time, and it causes Explorer and other apps to wait until it wakes up.
