Have not used it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have not used it. I purchased this large external hard drive in order to transfer all of my photos and videos and documents from my three other external hard drive's that are smaller. I have had three failed attempts a Best Buy personnel and Geeksquad trying to put this on but they have been unsuccessful So my review of this product is zero because I have not been able to use it as I anticipated when I purchased it

You get 369 days of life
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchase Feb 22, 2018 and ran everyday for an external HDD for Xbox one. Died today, Feb 26, 2019. If you need an external HDD that lasts a year then dies, buy this one. If you're looking to loose your Xbox one games, buy this one. If you enjoy hearing your child cry, because all of their games are gone and have to be downloaded again, buy this drive. If you want to spend your whole evening trying to get it to reformat on Windows in an attempt to get Xbox one to recognize it, buy this one. If you want an error free external drive that lasts for years and gives you no problems, buy something else. THIS is not the drive you're looking for.

WD External harddrive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great but cannot leave hooked up when you start your computer or the computer will not start. Changed boot drive but still does not work.

Disappointing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a a very old WD Book 1T that I've been using for years (and am still using quite nicely). When I needed a second I upgraded (or so I thought) to a 4 TB drive. I found due to the sector size on the 4TB it takes 2+ times the space to store the same amount of data as it does on the 1TB, so effectively, I get very little more on this than on the 1T drive. Not an "upgrade" at all. For the money, I would have gotten another 1TB drive and store almost as much.

Poor instructions for Mac users
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While this hard drive claims to be compatible with TimeMachine, set-up is hampered because the instructions fail to inform Mac users that they need to reformat the drive as soon as it is connected to your Mac or else it will be completely unusable and can't even be erased once set-up is attempted if the drive isn't first formatted to a Mac-compatible format. After it's formatted to a Mac-Compatible format, though, it seems to work okay, at least so far.

Failed within a month
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Used as a Time Machine Backup drive for iMac with El Capitan. Worked fine for less than a month and failed. Best Buy has said the Warrantee is Western Digital's responsibility. However after conferring with a supervisor they said they would exchange it for another one. Tomorrow I will find out. Hopefully this is an initial product failure with excellent support from Best Buy.

So far so good...external storage drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It wasn't as easy as I thought that it should be. The software downloaded but I had to go and find it in order to prompt the back up process.

Good product
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Western Digital drives are not as user friendly and are more complicated to figure out how to setup any backup solution. Also they are ONLY Cat5 connected and not a WIFI backup drive. Very inconvenient since that is super slow to transfer data. I like Seagate since I can connect it directly to my computer for a Full Backup and its much much faster.

Busted out of the Box
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our hard drive was corrupted out of the box. Spent several days trying to fix it and missed the return period (my fault, not Best Buy's) and now we're waiting on the replacement from WD who required us to pay our own shipping to return their faulty product. The new one may work great but I'm annoyed at this extra hassle.

Disappointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have used WD for years but this might be last! As others have complained drive shuts down after 30 seconds of non-use= on/off wear and tear and having to wait to come back online. They made no provision to alter this and do not comply with Windows sleep settings for USB devices. All but unusable for anything other than on..backup...off. Forget trying to review and organize contents. Very disappointing.

fragile
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had WD drives for years and consider them to be the best. That said, this drive has stopped working after a small bump. I know you are supposed to be careful but other drives were not so touchy as this. I returned the drive because it was not working after a few days. (no bump) the second one flopped over & that was all she wrote. I should return it also but get another one this time.

Had a few troubles with this Hard Drive
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I copied a few of my personal movies on this hard drive and later on when I went to retrieve the files, some of the files I wasn't able to retrieve any more. I'm lucky to be able to retrieve these videos from other sources but if I was in a pinch I would have been up a creek without a paddle. This is why I try to use 2 hard drives in case one goes down.
