The packaging is great... I haven’t opened the package yet. I just want some points!

There should have been instructions on compatibility issues with some bios. WD knew about it when I called.. this issue is with drives larger than 2.2 terabytes and the fat system they used. It at least should have been on their website. I did keep since there is a manual workaround, which is cumbersome.

I couldn't get this to work properly with my Mac. I followed the instructions in partitioning the drive, and setting up Passport. Unfortunately, for whatever reason it would do the first backup then give error messages every hour saying the backup failed. I tried uninstalling the software, wiping the drive, then reinstalling, and setting up with no luck.

Stoped working needs to be replaced is not working

I have been installing computer equipment for 20 years. This is a poorly designed product with even worse software. The Ethernet is the only connection for back-up. The software is very problematic and difficult to set-up. The failure rate on 5 installations was 100%. Don't waste your time or money!

Says 4TB but there is less than 3.7 TB once formatted and setup. 300 Gig lost is a lot.

Product is really to new to give rating at this time

I already own a 1T my book. I wish I had known this 4T would be so difficult to use with a Mac Mini.

Despite several efforts. I was unable to set up a password . Friends who have lots of computer savvy tried to help, to no avail. Unfortunately., I will have to return this otherwise fine hard drive this weekend. A real shame. The price was great I purchased it during Best Buy's black Friday sale.

Wasn't quite applicable to the product we were using.

Purchased Saturday from Best Buy. Delivered Sunday morning. Very pleased with that. However I could not get it to work. WD Website and emails sent with links to information was horrible. Links sent were to other products and links to this product said downloads were no longer available. Software downloaded from device but it does not back up anything. This should be very user friendly but it is far from it. I give no stars. Now need to spend time finding out what I am doing wrong or returning the device.

This drive is garbage!!! I purchased this harddrive in October 2017 and by August 2018, its trash, lost thousands of dollars all because this piece of junk just stopped working. WD says it's bad, nothing they can do for my loss, except upgrade it from 4tb to 6tb, and put a hold on my credit card for the purchase of the new warranty replacement!!! I just want my data back!!! Ugh, dont waste your money!!!

Does what it's supposed to. The real test will be how well/long it performs

Would like to have an indicator led and a power switch

I bought this for my new 2019 iMac which only has a 250 GB internal hard drive. To upgrade the iMac memory was going to cost an arm and leg so I figured I would just invest in an external hard drive. It worked pretty good for a couple weeks, then I started having problems. Sometimes my Mac mini recognizes it and then sometimes it doesn't. I open "My Book" to open files, and it doesn't recognize the files. I have to turn my external hard drive off and restart my iMac to get it to work. I have no confidence that this will be a long term solution for me so I'm looking to replace this.

Plug it in to the computer and it stores files. Nothing fancy.

Had to back up a dying computer and this tool did the job

After purchasing, I read in the Western Digital instructions that they do not recommend that their drives be partitioned. I verified this with an email exchange with Western Digital’s technical support. This was a non-starter because I needed to have a separate partition for Apple Time Machine back-ups. The good news is that I was able to return the drive to Best Buy, no questions asked. Although I gave the product 1-star, Best Buy deserves 5-stars for customer service.
