Drive went bad within the first month of use, but just after Best Buy's return-to-store timeline. We'll see how smoothly the RMA process goes. The drive takes a long time to spin up. It sounds like it is barely going to make it. A bunch of data got corrupted. Fortunately I had most of my files backed up, but the lost data cost me more than the drive itself in the time to re-shoot video. I suppose the review rating can go up after I get a replacement and if the new device works correctly. I also have the WD 8TB Easystore external hard drive. The Easystore drive is slightly faster, even though the 4TB (when it worked) is supposedly a newer model...although that could be due to having a defective drive.

I bought 2 of these drives and one failed after 3 uses in less than 30 days. Because it is outside the 15 day return window, I can not return. I did purchase the accident/replacement policy but that does not pay to have my data retrieved. NOT HAPPY! And yes I did have my data backed up, but I am unhappy it failed so soon and now I have to pay to get my data off this and on a replacement device, which is not yet guaranteed... I am not on the phone over 30 minutes and waiting for my 3rd person to speak to.

Very Loud, Bulky, and have to plug in using an AC adapter. Does not get power from USB connector. Would not have bought this had I known. It is very slow as well....

Perfect while it worked but the drive failed after a year. Going to do a warranty RMA but the manufacturer doesn’t do any data transfer.

Handsome. Very poor instructions (one page, two illustrations, zero text). Still not sure it's working.

Says I can’t use it because I have no drivers someone help pls I’ve had it for like 2 weeks and still can’t figure it out 105$ purchase

Not formatted as advertised. After manually copying a few files with Windows Explorer, tried to create system image backup but could not,not NTFS format.

This device is only recognized by one of my computers, my 2017 Mac Book Pro. Other Mac Book Pros, PCs, etc. do not recognize it in Disk Utility (Mac) or Disk Management (PC). I reformatted the drive (on the Mac that recognizes it) as FAT32, but still no luck. Wish I have never bought this stupid thing. Stay Away!

Lasted a year and a half. Worked one day and the next it did not.

Connects inconsistently so I hope it works. I receiver Backup Failed notifications all day long...

I bought a MyBook 4TB external Hard Drive at Bes Buy. It crashed within 60 days. Connected it to an iMac and saved pics and vids. Those are now gone! The warranties are of no help because they will replace the HD but not cover the cost to recoup the files. I hope Best Buy stops selling Wester Digital 's MyBook and sells more reliable brands.

I asked for a seagate external hard drive and was advised to purchase the My Book. I am having a horrible time trying to transfer my important documents from Windows 7 (down loaded onto My Book) to load on the new Dell Windows 10. Geek Squad said to not use the My Book and just download tower to tower. I wish I had been advised that in the store.

I says on the box that it works with a Mac but you need more technical savvy than I have to adapt this product. I was very disappointed.

We returned this drive without using it. The literature inside sounded like it would only work on Windows 10. I called WD and they said it did not work on Windows 11 at this time I do love WD drives, so hope it gets fixed soon

Our first hard drive lasted 6 months. The company replaced it and the new one only lasted 2 months. All of our data is gone since Western Digital doesn't do anything about the data stored, just the hard drive itself. I will never buy one of their products again.

I got this for Christmas. The box said it would support Mac High Sierra which I use, but not Snow Leopard which I also use. Even though the box said it supported High Sierra, it didn't, only Mountain Lion through El Capitan. Email to support got no answer. The HD goes back tomorrow.

Had to do curbside pick up. I thought this was the smaller usb mobile drive. I wouldve realized that if i were able to go into the store and look at them. Now im stuck with plugging this thing into the wall to power it and its huge. Could not return as i needed to use it for an emergency recovery.

I bought one of these WD MyBook drives and it died. So I bought this 4tb WD MyBook to replace it and after one day, it started to have errors during a large file transfer. After reading the forums, I found out that these WD drives aren't made with the same care as the older ones. If you don't care about your data, get this drive and burn some cash.

When coping files it is very slow. Doesn't display files properly.

Ist purchase exchanged 12/11, exchange subsequently returned a week later, both defective, a good waste of time
