I got this as a backup-backup for my home computers. It seems to work pretty well and is fast enough over USB 3. Two small complaints though: 1. The USB 3 cable provided is pretty short. Thankfully I had a much longer one already so I could put the My Book on a shelf a couple feet away from the computer instead of having to put it /right next/ to the computer. 2. There are no status lights at all on it so you can't tell if it has power or the disk is being accessed. Small gripe, would be nice to have. I've only had it a couple months so I can't speak for long term reliability, but the price was decent (on sale) and it gives me one more level of backup redundancy to help protect my files. Also, I haven't used the native WD utilities so I can't speak for their usability.

I bought it to use as a secondary drive for my Xbox One X. Set up was a breeze and is fairly quick for my needs while gaming.

External hard drive worked as expected. Was able to easily back data up to it.

Easy to use external hard drive. Little larger than expected and uses an external dedicated powerline. I use it with my xbox and it works great.

The cable it came with did not work, used an old WD cable from another drive. It works okay now. It's heavy and while it's running, it wobbles if lift it up. Later found out the price went on sale after 2weeks. Somehow don't receive BB reward points for this purchase. It happened to me before, if you exchanged an item with same one, your reward points will be forfeited, be aware of this tactic from BB.

I purchased this hard drive in March 2017 and paired it with my PlayStation 4 for extended storage purposes. Works flawlessly! Heavily recommend.

This the 4th WD External Hard Drive for my iMac because the 2nd stopped working after less than 2 1/2 years which was unacceptable (warranty has expired). I am giving WD another last chance before I switch to another brand. So far this is working the downside is there is no status light -- you will never know if its reading or writing or if its powered on or off. I don't know why WD decided to take out this useful feature???

works great and was easy to set up. Just plug in thru your usb port and it automatically came up on the screen and !! super easy love it!

Unobtrusive and easy to set up and use! I’ve never used an external hard drive and I’m very happy with this one. I also got it on sale, so it was affordable too.

Great hard rice got it a few years ago for music production to hold all my sounds and still haven’t filled the hard drive halfway yet!

My son's xbox one filled up much faster than expected, but this fixed it. You plug it in, turn on the xbox, and it takes you through all the steps. Solved the problem with minimal expense.

this was purchased as an external for xbox one i can run games off of it even thought the store employee said i could not. it runs great just plugged into port on back of xbox and configured in menu to run games and it works fine.

I've had good luck with this brand before. Other brands I've had have failed me after one year of use. Hmm amazing, almost like they are built that way. This brand has been great though.

I was needing some more a room on my computer so I put some of my files on the external hard drive. This freed up some space on my computer hard drive. I am pleased with the external hard drive. I did exactly what I needed it to do.

Although my first drive went bad within a week. Best buy was very responsive in sending out a replacement drive, receiving it 2 days latter. I have to say the older WD Quick View software I like much better than the new WD backup software.

I use this as the main storage for my desktop freeing the computer and preserving its speed. It was easy to set up and is very easy to access.
