I'm currently using it as my Time Machine to backup my iMac Pro. Though you can tell when it is working it is NEARLY inaudible! I've had a couple smaller versions of My Book and have never been disappointed! Try it... You'll like it!

Reliable backup drive

I've had overheating issues with other USB drives that get all their power from the USB port. The AC power supply included with this drive solves that issue. The My Book is fast and reliable, and I would recommend it as either a backup or external drive.

nice quiet little workhorse!

It was a snap to hook up and I think my entire cache of documents, videos and photos was backed up within an hour. So it sits next to my desktop and continually sees to it that all my stuff is protected.
