This model is louder than the 4 TB I have (same model), which was all but totally silent. Hope this isn’t a bad sign, but I’ve always found WD drives reliable.

If you need the space and your not going to beat it up this is a great drive. I am very careful with my drives and take good care of them and they work perfect for me.

HUGE capacity - much cheaper than solid state - will use as a backup drive

I have always liked western digital external hard drives. Provides a ton of storage and just so you know you will need AC power for this drive.

Works fast and love the 8TB of storage. I'm able to back up all my devices.

Trust me, you want a backup drive. Hook this into your network, and schedule backups for your computers. There are other drives you can do this with, but WD is inexpensive, and reliable.

Great device for storing media, files. Ect... Just not for running apps of of. Not quite fast enough. But great for streaming library!!!

This is a good device for what it does. I wish it had a connection for adding a second hard drive, so you could back two drives up in parallel. I do prefer it to the Seagate equivalent version.

Expected normal hassles with new hardware and software but this was intuitive and flawless-must have had me in mind when designed and manufactured. George

I got this HD about a year ago for my PS4 games and I still have so much space on it. Love it and it’s easy to setup with the PlayStation

My only concern with this hard drive is that it has no indicator LED to show it is on and/or operating. Otherwise, it performs well. If one doesn't mind the absence of the LED, it's a good choice.

This Hard drive is working great. I use it for 3 months to store digital video content for my business and I haven't had any issues with errors or playback so far.

Great all-around external hard drive w/ TONS of space. Fast enough to use for editing in 4k!

THE MY BOOK EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE IS FANTASTIC. IT ENABLES ME TO SAVE HUGE AMOUNTS OF DOCUMENTS, PICTURES, MOVIES ETC ALLOWING MORE FREE SPACE ON MY COMPUTER'S HARD DRIVE.

I didnt realize it needed to be plugged into the wall but thats my fault. It was super easy to hook up to my Mac book pro. Great value.

Needing space to backup photo and video files that can be safely stored off site this unit does it all for me. It is the second 8 TB unit I have purchased. Plug it in and go.

Using this for an time machine drive on my macbook. It's working great, but for my use the drive is a little loud when backups are running.

Use this on ps4 and now PS5, super easy to setup and use. Definitely a must for large game collections of the digital variety

I got this hard drive because I needed more storage space. I'm very happy. It works great, and now I can consolidate all my stuff onto it from all my externals.
