I needed a small hard drive to store files in. This works great. It’s small sturdy and very fast.

I have bought several of these HD’s and they have never given me ant trouble so far. I will continue to buy them.

I'm using this with Acronis software to back up my desktop. It holds plenty of files and so far is working fine.

We downloaded all of our movie, music and photo files. Easy retrieval, setup. Good choice for anyone.

This WD drive with WD Backup software is a good replacement for the WD Smartware software backup. It works mostly the same way except it's one downfall is that it can't do continuous file backup/copying. The closest thing is for it to backup/copy once every hour. Continuous is better for many situations, especially if you need to disconnect the drive for any reason. I'm happy with the external drive and the capacity.

I haven't had any problems with this drive. I plugged it in and was able to use it right away. Very simple.

We've been using and recommending the My Book series for years with great success. Recently, I needed to upgrade an older Seagate external drive so, when this went on sale, I bought one. Setup and installation went quickly and I set up a backup task to move folders from existing drives to this drive. After a couple of days, DriveDx began to show degraded drive performance. Not significant enough to warrant returning the drive but we'll monitor the drive's statistics closely. What makes it troublesome/concerning is that this degraded performance showed up within days of copying the files to the drive. We have smaller My Book drives on the same computer one of which is about 2 years old and the other about 4 years old. Neither have shown any degraded performance over the life of the drive.

It's great to see hard drives come such a long way. Now we can store even more space at a good GB to $ ratio.

since I am on shut down I had time to back up my old hard drives from years ago .

8TB seems like a lot of memory, but we are using most of it already. This harddrive has functioned flawlessly

I don't usually have issues with WD external drives, but this one has been a little different. From time to time, I have incompatibility issues with Mac, like it won't even recognize that the drive is connected. For this reason, I don't find it to be the most reliable drive to edit off of. When it does connect, the connection is stable and fast enough for backing up files.

Very easy to install. Connect it to my PS4 external hard drive and works perfectly.

So far it has worked great, it frees up my computer and I don't have to worry about losing information I wanted to keep.
