Needed storage to backup a computer being replaced. Included backup software was simple to use. Backed up files were readable directly on new computer without having to do a restore operation or having to install anything on the new computer.

These are great for storing but the “sd” is a way better bet given that these will go out on you in time if you are not extremely careful

I'm a big fan of WD products. I purchased this My Book drive to use in my studio as a backup drive.. Been using My Book for years...Great product.

Excellent external hard drive. I use this hard drive to backup my desktop and laptop computers. The hard disk does save files fast and can retrieve quickly.

This external drive is a life saver. It’s super portable for my on the go work, and the speed helps a lot, especially when I have a ton of raw photo files to upload and download.

Got one of these for my home Plex server. Western Digital is a leading brand name in storage and thus far has been a successful product!

For its price and performance, it is great but I have to keep mounting it back when it won't show in my iMac finder. Doable but it is a hassle!

Works as expected. We have used this heavily for daily backups and no issues to report after 6 months.

Fast & reliable HD, if you are a Mac user like me, be sure to install the provided software to erase the drive. Doing it with the mac disk utility will cause a lot of errors. Over all is a great disk.

Got this at a super price for my webserver. Formatted it (FYI, in Linux for any drive over 2Tb there's special commands; fdisk won't cut it) and put it into production. It's been working fine since.

Although it is a great product, it was more than I can handle. I had to return due to my inexperience.

Over the years we have used several different brands of external hard drives, but this one by far is the easiest to set up and use. It has been a great addition to our data storage

This is a great purchase. However, I didn't realize you had to format the hard drive first...It wasn't a big deal, but it should have been mentioned.

I need something to back up my main SSD polus a lifetime of music collected. This fits the bill!! Very fast data xfer from computer to unit. Just what i needed.

I can honestly say this is the worst piece of tech I’ve ever bought! It’s caused me to lose two weeks of my life and probably lots of money in not working while sorting out the disaster that was this purchase. Having bought this 8 TB hard drive to store all my media which included 16,000 music tracks, 420 movies and 30,000 photographs and videos which I downloaded from my 1 TB iMac prior to selling it as it was 11 years old and from the icloud. I spent three days deleting duplicates and putting into albums and playlists. I then came down the following morning to discover that it was corrupted overnight. Neither Apple, western drive or the Geek squad could fix it, that took three days on phone calls. My advice would be to buy the SSD disk instead, I bought the Samsung 2Tb which has done the same job and is a lot smaller and lighter.

Quality of the product is well made... Housing is beautiful, interface is a bit flimsy though, but it functions well in USB 3.0 Will recommend...
