In purchasing this device, I was looking to store my information locally without cloud storage. The sales person could not tell me anything about this device and pulling up information was also limited. Hard to tell what you are buying and therefore if it is the right device for you. I ultimately purchased a Synology Drive system.

getting the drive on-line required a call to Tech Support

Works okay but not great. Looses connection sporadically from other LAN locations.

I was surprised, and disappointed, that the drive cannot be connected by USB. WIFI only.

Average backup with basic cloud functions. Hard to program.

I back up all my 20 years media, great cloud access.

First of all, the store clerk described the item as something similar to dropbox. The files do not view on my computer though, You have to be logged online to see the files. Second, the navigation is horrible. The dashboard online doesn't work. There are no help features. My biggest issue is the unit randomly goes offline for no reason. I have had the item for about a month and I have had 3 clients message me asking me why their link to their files no longer work. I have had to unplug the unit and basically reboot. If this happens while I am on vacation my clients won't have access to their files. Basically I paid hundreds for a worthless piece of equipment.

Was very disappointed with the writing speed. Then I was told I needed to upgrade my router if I wanted backups to move faster than a snail.

I had an existing functioning WD external hard drive. Yet I was convinced that this WD Cloud was the way to go. Have not been able to get the drive to work right. The only 'backup plan' I can choose is to the cloud, which I don't want to use. I want to back my computer up to the WD device itself. But this is not an option. Currently pursing suggestions from the store for remedy, up to and including returning it.

I bought this unit and after 10 hours on the phone with customer service and my entire network crashing trying to set this thing up, I finally boxed it back up and returned it to Best Buy and bought a real hard drive.
