This was a pot off gold at the end of a rainbow.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have years of computer experience and am very particular when making new purchases. I tried several NAS drives and none met my needs. I wanted a drive to hold my Time Machine backups plus photos, videos, etc. Trying to find a drive that would work seamlessly with my Apple products was an exercise in frustration. I even needed some help installing the WD My Cloud but it has been fantastic. The Time Machine backups run without intervention, even when connected wirelessly to my home network. Very happy with this purchase.

Don't buy if using for Mac Time Machine
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Quality of the device is fine, setup was easy, however its stated compatibility with Mac Time Machine backups is inaccurate. Yes, Time Machine could see the device and write a backup, however the performance was completely unacceptable needing over 24 hours for a 2.2TB backup on a 1Gb network. Further research on multiple forums further verified my observations. Going back to local attached for my backups until Apple and the NAS manufacturers figure out how to support each other.

Good for backups, no search feature
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This looks classy, is quiet, and is easy to use. If you just want to store large backup files such as Time Machine, it's great. If you want one place for managing duplicates, though, choose something else. There's no search feature on this when accessed through a computer; you have to manually scroll through all of your files. The app for tablets is a little better for that, but who uses an iPad to sort through 10,000 photos and 5,000 documents? The user partitions are nice, it has good security features and after a couple of years it's still very stable, but I can't manage duplicates with it so I'm buying something else.

I hate this product.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not fast, not user friendly, inconsistent performance - more stress than value. Returning after wasting hours of my life...

You must use their horrible software
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This idea of a personal cloud is wonderful, but MyCloud drops connections to your computer constantly and stops updating. There are severe limits on the characters used in filenames, so you have to rename your files as it's backing up -- and there may be a lot of them. The dashboard access to the drive itself is so slow it might take a full minute or three for it to appear. Click on any menu item and wait again. And again. And again. You can spend hours doing this. Again and again.
