This thing is massive and has a great idea to allow you to store and access things from anywhere. Problem is it can be really slow at times due to internet restrictions and what not. Some others may have better experiences. It may be my Comcast if that helps explain anything.

in theory, excellent device, in execution, awful. I ended up returning it. its simply FAR too slow compared to other similar devices. if you use it for personal photos and files, and do not have a large library of images or music or videos, its perfect, if you DO have a few TB+ of data, you will be waiting a very long time for the first back up to take place.

There are really no instructions included, so be prepared to go online and watch tutorial videos to get the most out of the product.

I really like the MyCloud storage device. We have three laptops, a desktop, and three smartphones that I needed to backup, and this device had more than enough space to store all my docs, pics, and videos. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it took me a little longer to setup than I thought... Not to bad though.

I was in the market for a hard drive and was reviewing just about ever 4gb hd I could find when I stumbled upon this one. After reading about the cloud capabilities and all the positive reviews I decided on this one. Works every bit as described and I would highly recommend it myself.

wish the remote access feature was a little more flexible.

I bought this NAS for its disc size (6TB) not for its features. Its lacking what some of the new, more powerful NAS have. Its read/write speed is not so great. the web interface could be better and is missing some features and widgets the newer WD Cloud devices have. pre-created public shared folder cannot be removed.

interface is slow and difficult to set up at first with connection problems. took days to backup almost 2tb of data. had to reconfigure several times and can't get it to work Microsoft surface pro 2. seems to work ok now, but still some minor issues with accessibility.

Enjoy having lots of room to grow with this 6 TB drive. Access speed is good.

Took some time to get set-up due to my AT&T router. Once I got it working, have not had any issues.

Good for backup, but fairly slow to send pictures, and to access.

This NAS surprised me by getting >80MB/s. I was able to utilize the gigabit connection properly.

I was looking something like dropbox but at home and with similar apps. Automatic camera upload on iOS works ok- needs some performance and progress bar while uploading from camera roll. Overall good product for the price

I was looking for an alternate solution to online cloud services, AND a place I can keep all my personal files in case I break my laptop. This was the perfect solution. The MyCloud will automatically back up any files I want from my phone or iPad, and I mapped it directly from my laptop via the network so it acts like another hard drive. It plugs right into the router with a network cable. I can also access the drive anywhere via apps on the phone or iPad. It was very easy to set up. Cool.

Product installed easily as many other reviews said. And it saved me many hours in just a few days after I bought WD My Cloud when I accidentally used a wrong file name while Saving As, overwriting that file with wrong content. Turned out the destroyed file's latest good version was in My Cloud, automatically backed up! Phew! My problem is I can't quite understand/remember from the instructions enough information to have a mental model of how this backup system works. I'd like experimental things I do in a file not to be backed up so automatically. Seems I can't do anything on my PC in folders I want backed up without the latest thing I do automatically getting copied over to My Cloud. It's probably just my lack of patience in focusing and digesting the instructions while I'm busy with what I want to accomplish. Anyway, I'm glad I bought the product! Hope this helps somebody.

running out of room on computer moved all old pictures to MyCloud, now have room on computer and can assess remotely.

We bought this external hard drive to have a place where we could backup all of our devices and this does exactly that. Very simple to setup and never loses a connection.
