We purchased this to back up all of our computers at home. The setup process was easy, and I was able to start backing up my work and personal machines in no time.

Just bought this and still trying to learn how it works over my home network. Not sure yet.

This item is great and glad I purchased it. You can do so many things with this. i.e saving all kinds of files to your own cloud server

Took very little set-up time after you install WD Discovery app on each computer.Able to send and receive files and folders including 4K videos with no problems.

Normally I have great luck with WD products, and this one isn't too bad. It does what it's supposed to do, but it slows down the networked computers to a crawl, even when it's not copying or transferring files. Once you've accessed it, it drags everything down until everything is rebooted. Not worth the hassle.

Love this external drive. Very reliable. Took some time to set up.

I purchased this to use as a time machine back up with my 2018 Mac mini. I was running Mac OS Big Sur 11.6 in October 2021. the installation for the desktop application hung at th 50% "extraction" point in the progress bar. I combed through the troubleshooting on the WD website, with no luck. when I contacted support I was sent links to the trouble shooting I had already performed. I ended up returning it after the painful waste of time it took to learn it's not compatible with Mac.

Unfortunately this NAS device does not have a local web interface; you are required to use centralized cloud to manage it. Setup failed multiple times and didn't it didn't give a good impression of backing up my data.

Love network attached storage from WD. This is my 3rd drive, best way to backup and store my data on my network.

not a true nas but works great for home use, app is so-so but works

I wanted a storage device to backup photos. As long as I’m signed into the app, my phone and computer backup to MyCloud storage daily

Ok drive to tranfer files not so good with big files

This is an improvement from the previous generation. Connects to laptop all the time, and backs up laptop & cell even when remote

So far it looks good - in terms of backing up photos from phones. Not sure if we can backup external hard drive.

Electronics died a bout 1 year ago, now I have an 8TB internal drive, would not recommend. Don’t get me wrong, I love WD, not there network attached drives. Too restrictive on access!

I have had this for several years now and it is CONSISTENTLY OFFLINE. I unplug, reboot and it may work briefly but then it's offline again. When I Google for solutions, I see so many people have had the same issues for many years. Its too late to get a refund but I hope this review makes you reconsider. I am looking for a new NAS. I will not take a chance on this brand. My first purchase was already an expensive lesson in futility.

can't believe WD has not updated the MyCloud firmware to work with latest Mac OS released over 6 months ago - stopped working almost immediately, no ability to use Time Machine or even access my files after WD performed some minor version upgrade - my research found that it is a known WD issue that MyCloud is not compatible with Mac High Sierra - Best Buy and WD should have all Mac Compatibility labels covered over until this is fixed - was able to get my money back (thanks, Best Buy!) but what a waste of time!

Great storage space for all types of media files and easy to install. Highly recommend for any user

I have saved all my photos and files to MyCloud drive and I love that I can access it from anywhere.
