Not Backward Compatible with all devices
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to back up my current computer and an old Windows XP computer that I want to get rid of (which has USB 2.0). Before buying it, I read reviews and questions and answers and it stated that this portable drive was backward compatible. But after trying numerous times to connect to all of my USB ports, I was unsuccessful. It would not recognize the external hard drive. I even had a friend who works on computers try and he was unsuccessful as well. It works great with my current computer which is running Windows 10 and USB 3.0. It's a good product, but just be careful if you are trying to back up older computers.
