This external hard drive worked like a charm! Ran with a PS4 nonstop even while the system was off. I'll be formatting it later, but this drive is worth it's weight in platinum!

The drive is a great value, what isn't is the amount of research I had to do to make it useful. It didn't come with any instructions at all and it wasn't until I searched the WD website did I find the backup downloads needed. Set up was easy enough, but it didn't take long to run out of space. Why,? I don't know, but it is twice the memory size of my entire laptop. Learn more about this device before buying.

Attractive, immediately recognized by my Microsoft Surface laptop. Easy to use and fast. USB 3.0 means really fast data transfer. Am not using the auto backup with my Surface, but I have used that software on another computer and it seems to work fine.

This external drive is great for storing your photos, music, and document files. This is handy if you just need to a backup, or moving to new computer. One complaint, I thought this would more like a flash drive, where I could easily plug n’ play between PC & Mac. That is not the case. I had to download a program from WD (Western Digital) to use with both computers types (yes I know the box says PC or it says Mac).

Purchased this WD my passport as a back up for my other WD external hard drive. I always trust WD products on their reliability. I love having this as my partner on repairing computers as this is more handy as it is more slimmer than my old one. Overall satisfied with the purchase.

I unfortunately reformatted my old WD Hardrive so had to get this one, but with two more TB of Storage. WD Hardrives are easy to use, the speed of transferring data is good, and I have already moved all my Photos, Videos and Music within a few hours of copying and pasting, good hardrive

Bought this to free up space on my laptop from pictures. I have over 20,000 picture and videos myself and also wanted to free up the pictures from my girlfriends laptop. We were both able to easily save our files into this hard drive and delete them off our laptops. It was easy to use.

I picked this up on sale and it is a great value in terms of storage. However, the hardware encryption functionality apparently requires installation of WD Discovery. As part of the install process, you have to decide if you want to share data with WD (ostensibly typical system functionality info). However, what is not made clear is that by selecting 'No', the software WILL NOT INSTALL. Multiple online users report the same issue but that it magically installs when 'Yes' to data sharing is installed. So, I will have to use another mechanism for encryption because I refuse to have mandated data sharing.
