I have a Macbook Air and I was able to make the drive compatible with minimal effort. I moved a bunch of files and backed up my drive with time machine.

Great little drive at a very reasonable price!

My first impulse was because there were no set-up instructions provided. But there are set-up options presented once the drive is put to use. It took awhile before I was confident I had figured it out and it was working properly. Upon reflection, I am sure I have a valuable and very handy drive which is functioning perfectly.
