Reached out to Manufacturer and they explained it was just a defected device and they would replace it, however they make you wait and you get a new one 5-7 days after they receive the first device you return. I’ve owned this product for less than 1 year.

Second time, I tired to use it, it was not recognized by my computer and I am unable to get to my files. Tried all the tricks i saw online with no success. Now dealing with WD Support, which isnt really helpful and is time consuming. Buy something else that doesn't just last one use.

WD backup app problem

I installed the WD backup software on my new HP laptop windows 11 and it corrupted the Photos App. It didn't damage any photos but the app cannot find the path to the photos now. NOT HAPPY

This one abounds with error messages for which I have no idea how to fix it. One only finds out if it works when you have to restore the data. But it seems to be plugging away.

I'm going to have to get someone to help me or google a youtube video on how to use it. It's not as user friendly as I had hoped. I guess I'm not as computer saavy as I thought! If you're buying it, you'll probably be fine. It's probably just me.

In fact, it's perfectly functional for just about anything you might want to use it for. It's also reasonably priced when compared to its competitors. All that being said it will never stand up to the read/write speeds of an SSD.
