Not quite pure WD

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Technically the drive works; I was able to copy almost 1/2 tb of photos to it. However, the backup software “provided” with the unit was NOT WD Backup as I expected; apparently WD Backup is no longer supported. WD outsourced the backup software to Acronis True Image who requires you to register for a free 4 yr license. After 4 years? Would I be able to recover it if I didn’t have Acronis‘s software? WD didn’t know about that. So, for now, it’s an inert storage device which is its intended use until I identify a backup software that simple enough for my needs. *Footnote to”would I recommend this”: If you know Acronis or don’t mind, it’s probably a great drive.

Which makes it even easier for travel. I do recommend a carrying case when you get it as it’s so small and we all know people who drop cell phones. Good deal.
