I still wonder however, why is the insurance against damage to these things so minimal. If you own a hard drive it should NEVER cost you $500.00 to recover your stored items/information. Seems like a complete rip-off to me.

You DO get a ton of storage, but after using an SSD, you will be disappointed in this drive's speed.
