I like these small portable drives because they are small enough to take anywhere, have more than enough storage for most things, and they have low power requirements. I purchased this drive to store my movie collection on so I can take them with me when I travel. 4TB is more than enough for my collection plus music. The drive is fast, it uses USB3.0 so movies never lag, and copying to or from the drive is blazingly fast. It draws power through the USB cable so I didn't have to carry an extra power adapter. And, it fits in any backpack or briefcase computer bag. I prefer Western Digital drives because they are inexpensive and reliable. This one does not disappoint.

I have owned 3 western digital portable drives and they have all worked flawlessly. I have uploaded large blu ray files to my drive and it is operating 100% to my satisfaction with my MacBook Pro and Nvidia Shield tv streaming device. Definitely recommend picking up this awesome little hard drive.

I backed up three computers of photos on this and all went smoothly and quicly. Good bang for the buck. Would definitely recommend and will purchase another soon. Love the blue color. Easy to find when I am traveling and doing that last hotel room check to make sure I have everything.

I know a lot of people will think this is overkill but with the amount of music and pictures and stuff I have built up over the years along with my family being able to save all of it in one place is amazing. Storage in such a small device is perfect for keeping in a fire safe.

Nice to have a large capacity HDD that doesn't require an external power source. This drive is very small, it is red and it is USB3. It holds 4TB of data (Actual is slightly less). I plugged it in and started using it. It is easy as that so far so good!

setup was fast and easy, plug and play, and i was able to backup my hard drive,Now at least i dont have to worry about losing all my files. and a update every 2 weeks and i am good, good price, lots of space for my files, small size, whats not to like

I really like this hard drive. It's small and sleek, and really easy to use. I plugged it into my Xbox One X and after a few simple steps it was ready to go. I shopped around and found this was a much better price at Best Buy then at Amazon.

Works great for storing my files. Files transferred easily from my old hard drive to the new larger drive. I didn't use the backup file system provided by WD, but I've read that it works well. Connects easily to my TV for viewing media files.

Got this to transfer everything from my Xbox one s to the one x and get some additional space for all the enhancement updates, works great and since it's portable there's no power cord to add to the rats nest behind my entertainment center

This external hard drive is the perfect purchase for any external storage requirement, it is easy to install it, works perfect and its dimension is small helping you to transport it to any place, my son love it and I'm happy to have it.

I'm a wedding photographer and the reliability of backups is crucial. This is a fantastic storage drive I've used other brands like seagate that's failed on me twice WD is super reliable and it's the only brand I use and depend on

I bought this for extra game storage on the Xbox One, and with almost 100 games I have barely made a dent. The set up was fairly easy as well for someone who has never messed with something like this.

compact and easy to use, this 4TB external hard drive follows two earlier WD units. All of these work well and provide the increased storage I need as files get larger and I accumulate more of them.

I bought 4 of these before I found one that was not defective, but once I did I have had no problems. I recommend if you are not going to use the software that comes with it to re-format the drive immediately. If you plug it in and it is clicking just take it back. This is the first sign of failure. I have 3 other My Passports (older models) and have had absolutely zero issues.Most reliable of the competition and good price.

I handle IT and prepress for a small printing company and use technologies like Apple's Time Machine whenever possible to support versioning and simple file recovery. Our preflight station which checks files and does basic preparation for the prepress department also sends out PDF proofs and mirrors most of the company's email accounts to enhance responsiveness. This afternoon, the computer started complaining about the USB time machine drive getting full. The OS does purge older backups, which is usually acceptable but I tend to prefer to retire and archive the drive at that point, allowing for a decent chance at recovering older files if necessary. So the task was simple. Hit the local Best Buy, bought one of these four TB drives, spent a couple of minutes reformatting it for Mac (GUID/HFS+ journaled), hooked it up to the Mac, waited a few seconds for the Mac to ask if I wanted to use the new drive, it began its initial backup, and Bob's your uncle, it's done. Total console time, approximately 10 minutes. It's purring away and I know a simple layer of file protection never was in doubt.
