Great hard drive, but the initial set up is tricky

The logical inclination is to click on the icon to get started. Not so. Had to call a technician at the HD company to direct me. You have to click on a tiny symbol that shows up in your top task bar. I think it could have been a little simpler.

Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely LOVE WD hard drives – all sizes and types (portable vs "sit on desk" version). Never had a drive fail, but Best Buy's replacement plan is a must for hard drives. Note that these things are roughly identical to the Easystore drives. Keep an eye out for deals on both.

Good Price

I found this deal on weekly deals in BestBuy and it's worth a shot using a SSD for the time machine backup. Backup takes time for the first time, definitely less time than the spinner. Once you did take the backup it's gonna be pretty fast from the 2nd ones.

Great external drive for basic storage

I have other faster SSD cards drives that I use for video editing but as a storage only device this one works great and the USB C cable is perfect for newer Macs.

Great hard drive for back ups

I have a lot of files and pictures that I don't want to lose. So I now have two back up hard drives plus some cloud. I think if you really want to be save then you need to back up your backups too.
