Excellent external hard drive perfect for my needs!

Bought it in 2020, was working great in the beginning but it became very faulty after upgraded to macOS Monterey. It would eject itself or cause my MacBook Air to crash. Finally it just died on me completely with all my photo backups inside yesterday. Wouldn't mount on my MacBook Air. Couldn't even use Disk Utility to reformat or anything. I've never dropped it or damaged it and I only used it at home. Do not recommend it

This is the second one I've had to buy in a year and for the same reason. It just stopped working and I lost everything!!!! The first one was worse...nothing could read the drive at all. Spent hundreds of dollars to retrieve my files and nothing worked. This second one can still plug in to a different computer, but I cannot save to it or open files. I can copy the files and paste them somewhere else. We have multiple WD drives at my office and I'm worried sick about when the others will stop working too. I'm not buying WD brand drives anymore.

Bought this drive a couple hours ago and my Macbook (new, bought in December 2019) will NOT recognize it. I can find it in Disk Utility, but after a while it just disappears. Followed video tutorials to try and restore/repair the hard drive but absolutely NOTHING works. I had saw suggestions to do this because it didn't work for some people, and it's ridiculous that it would even have to be reformatted in the first place, as it's advertised that it will work straight out of the box. Didn't even have an account before this product but I made it specifically to complain about this hard drive. Horrible product. I'm bringing it back to the store just a few hours after buying. Highly recommend you get something else.

I told the Best Buy folks that my computer expertise is very limited and would this item require much. I just need a backup to my Mac computer. The response was, "very easy, just plug it in and follow prompts". It did not go well. Back in box , not used.

Worst hard drive experience EVER! How can a company take something so simple as plug and go and make it sooooo complicated! It is ridiculous the number of additional downloads and installations and opening up privacy and security this system expects someone to do just to be able to save files to it! Honestly, this is the most ridiculous!

I had to return the product since after a day of use it kept getting ejected on its own. I consulted WD tech support. They said the unit was manufactured in March 2022 and it should not have do that. (Units manufactured earlier had that problem when the computer went to sleep and the power drawn from the USB port was not sufficient to keep it on.) So either the unit was faulty or the connector was faulty. I was asked to return it.

Didn't work, plugged it ind and after troubleshooting didnt work in the slightest. Would not recommend.
