Very high capacity portable drive, back all my music and files and not even half full.

The new Acronis backup software does not work compared to the prior WD software, after 3 weeks I have not been able to view backed up files, still getting help from WD

I have tried a couple of the WD My Passport external drives, with various storage configurations. Have had no problems installing the hardware device. But on this machine, the drive continues to drop from a ready state (i.e. the USB connection drops, then reconnects 10 to 15 seconds later). Sometimes this actually kills the backup. It does generate many requests to scan the drive for issues, each time it drops). Curiously, the problem does not occur on my Laptop, but that is not where I keep the files I need to backup. I recently tried a Samsung SSD drive, with no problems. I have exhausted all the solutions from online trouble shooting suggestions, with no success.

Not as easy to use on a Macbook... time to learn setup and navigation

I have not gotten this to work as a back up for my Macbook or as an external file storage device. I will have to take it in to Best Buy and get them to explain how it works. I have another similar WD external drive from perhaps 3 years back which is very simple and works just fine. What’s with this one?

I needed a single source to store my data on and this one is Perfect for my new MacBook Pro. Cord is just a little stiff and not very flexible.
