This WD hard drive is a good value. Been using them for years. Unfortunately the WD backup software does not install on the laptop I backed up, unlike other hard drives in the past. WD was not helpful, giving me a long list of troubleshooting things to try. Thankfully there was a partner software also on this drive which worked first time. Now it is licensed for 5 years after which they may renew or charge a supplemental fee to renew.

Does the job and quick enough to handle normal daily usage.

It's surprisingly lightweight and thin. It needs to be reformatted with Apple's DiskUtility in the APFS format for use on a Mac. It's pretty fast writing and reading.

This Passport was easy to use as a "plug and play" option for our family's document storage needs. I was easily able to format it for both Mac/iOs and PC use. The staff at Best Buy was wonderful and very helpful in guiding me to the correct device. Thank you!

Easy to use, plug and play. Great for backing up documents and pictures. Accidents do happen so get piece of mind and save the pictures that can not be replaced.

I purchased this drive as part of my backup strategy - scheduled backups to the cloud and on-demand backups to this drive. I use FreeFileSync (an excellent, free utility) for the on-demand backups to this drive. The drive was plug-n-play (as most drives are) and its transfer speed is fast enough for the volume of data I'm backing up. There isn't much else to say - it sits on my desk and works as intended.

Simply put, this drive is super fast, has a ton of space, and the size is so small that it doesn't take up a lot of space. Recommended!
