Bought this for a photo scanning project. Scanned about 1500 photos and stored them on this 4tb external Hard drive. Worked great. Can’t speak for longevity, but getting the photos onto it was no problem. Didn’t even make a small dent in the 4tb

I got the My Passport Ultra for two reasons: 1. to make a copy of the numerous files (music, photos, documents) on my home laptop so I can delete the ones I no longer use, but am too afraid to delete in case one day I find I might need them. I have had my laptop only 18 months, but already it is creeping up to capacity on file storage on the hard drive. 2. I frequently bring my work laptop with me home or when I travel in order to have access to files I want to continue working on. My work laptop is a workhorse, and weighs about as much as a Clydesdale! By saving the latest versions of the files I recently modified, all I have to do is drop this in my purse and go. It is about the size of a deck of card and only weighs 8 oz. Strengths: The setup is simple with plug-n-play installation. It runs on a Mac or PC. It is quiet and doesn’t vibrate when backing up files. The feet on the bottom help in grabbing onto the surface and avoid sliding across the desk/table. It is easy to update files you have worked recently on. You are prompted whether or not to replace a previous version of a file. The file transfer speeds are fast and reliable. I backed up 2 laptops with huge amounts of files, photos, videos, and music. It took a lot less time that I expected. The blinking light in the front shows when it is transferring and will turn off when you have ejected the drive. The My Passport is fairly light (8 oz), being small enough to fit into a purse or carry-on for travel. The best thing about this is I no longer have to bring two laptops with me when I travel. That just saved me 10 minutes in the TSA line at the airport to remove and put back into my carry-on one of the laptops. The USB A and USB Type C compatibility is great as I have both connections with my laptops. Even more convenient, it is just an adaptor versus another cable that you just end up losing. It has the ability to import files from cloud storage and social media, it offers password protection, a 3-year limited warranty, and more. 4 TB is H-U-G-E. I moved all the files from two laptops and I still have 3.34 free of 3.63 TB. Unbelievable! The My Passport Ultra is a super fast, large capacity, portable hard drive at a very reasonable price…and a no brainer purchase.

Less than a year - the drive failed. I am now unable to retrieve my data. WD is great with replacement, but it doesn't recover my data. Be careful the type of hard drive you purchase

Great device Can back up any time and gives me peace of mind

I’ve had this about three weeks and so far it’s been a fantastic hard drive with great speed. I recommend to get a case for it if you travel just for each of carrying it and the cord, but other than that, I highly recommend.

Quiet as far as HDDs are concerned. I have yet to hear it when it is working. Faster than any external drive I have had since it comes with USB-C. Not much else to say other than it is going to cost just a little more for that USB-C speed.

I am happy with my “My Passport” backup so far.I hope I don’t have problems with it like I did with my “Seagate” which I purchased to store my digital photos on. I may never be able to retrieve them.

I've been buying these Passport drives for backups for years now. These have not been a disappointment, we don't have problems with them, they seem to last forever, and I've not personally ever had any problems with data loss using these.

Talk about Awesome. This little guy here was so fantastic that I went and bought another. It is solid state so you do not have to worry as much about failure.

wish the speeds and reliability of this hard drive was better. sometimes hooking it to my phone (s21) long load times just for viewing. be sure to format the hard drive on your main system of use. almost lost 5 years worth of video captures. very scary.

The 4 tb passport has a lot of storage great for gaming

Works well and does what it needs to. Only downside is depending on your computer it can be a little confusing to set up. Like for me I had to go into my computer settings and change stuff before I could use it but that might of just been my computer. But I looked it up online and found what I needed to change without a problem

purchased nov., 2021. It's having problem and losing files. have to format it twice already and it is still not working . i would not recommend this to anyone looking for such a drive.

The USB-C connection is too tight and hard to plug in and out.

If I could give these portable hard drives zero stars, I would. I had one fail, without being dropped or handled poorly. I had 2 others on hand to back up the first. One of those has since failed and the second one is on the way out. I have nothing good to say about them other than they are a handy sized paper weight.
