Nothing worked beyond pulling it out of the box. It took 30+ minutes for my computer to even be able to recognize it was plugged in. And my computer is a brand new Mac Studio, no issues with any other external drives previously. Not only did it not show up on my Finder for forever, when trying to reformat it for Mac it was next to impossible. I had to download special software to even make it work and it still took over an hour for it to reformat. Then there was the transferring of data. I initiated a full transfer of around 175-200 gb from my other external hard drive and it never finished. It sat there and said it would take 11 days to finish! I finally called it quits, took the time to completely wipe it, which took forever as well, and promptly returned it. In contrast, I replaced it with a new 4 tb external ssd drive and it worked snippety snap. No issues reformatting, transferring, and it only took seconds for it to show up on my computer. Definitely would not recommend this product unless you don’t mind spending 2 weeks getting it set up.

Compact enough to use with a laptop

This unit came formatted for PCs, but It took me all of a minute or two to re-format this drive for my Mac using Apple's Disk Utility application.

If you have a usb c port on your computer it's pretty fast. I bought it to store my pictures and lecture videos so they don't clutter my computer. Works as advertised.
