I've had 2 of these hard drives for almost 2 years and it still runs well. It has been installed in a server that I use for Plex and backup and I add and remove stuff from it all the time. Sometimes I can hear the platters as the drives search but no failures yet. Got them on sale so great for the price IMO.

great drive has worked just fine. It sleeps so if you haven't opened a file for awhile it takes a few seconds but that saves energy so it is a good trade off. Once awake no lag is noticeable

These are great hard-drives. I've got 4 of them rumbling away in my NAS. Yes, they make an audible rumble. Keep in mind that these are server-grade hardware. So if you're looking for something quiet and power-efficient then these aren't for you. If you've got a server of some type then they're a good quality solution for storage volumes.

My old circa 2007 Dell Precision T7400 Workstation Windows PC's BIOS and Motherboard Bus will not allow more than a 2TB Format, so I had friend format it on her PC. Properties shows it formatted at 7.27TB, but still all I can use is 2TB, and I have 1.47TB of that used already after copying files to it. I went over 2TB a few times and the PC locked up each time. So I used an old 1TB for some of the files and got the size down to 1.47TB for the 8TB Drive with about 358GB left. 5 Stars overall, but it gets a ding of only 3 Stars on "Ease of Use." It may not be the WD 8TB Red Drive's fault and you'll get the whole 8TB with SOME newer PCs, but NOT ALL OF THEM. I know because I tried with a few friends' PCs before trying it in this friend's Newer Gaming PC. There are brand new Windows 11 PCs and Laptops which absolutely cannot format above 2TB and some max out at only 1TB. I could return it, but I'll be building a powerful and fast Gaming Tower before much longer and I can use it for storage in that one at its full 8TB capacity. Therefore, I recommend this Hard Drive ONLY if you know what your computer is capable of and what it is not. I found out the hard way, but that's not Best Buy's fault.

As someone deeply invested in maintaining a robust network-attached storage (NAS) setup, investing in the Western Digital Red Plus 8TB Internal NAS hard drive was a no-brainer. In fact, I didn't just buy one – I grabbed four of them to ensure my storage needs were more than adequately met.

It is very fast. I use it primarily for storage of my premier projects and final vidoes. 10GB is large but now that I'm using it for my ATEM ISO projects, i may need to create a NAS system. I'm happy i didn't settle for a slower speed. Got it at a discount price saving $50. Using it as a stand alone Highspeed USB drive.

WD Red have been my favorite go to drives for both of my NAS boxes. Out of 20+ drives I've only had one drive go bad after years of use. Unlike another company (SG) I used to use which 80% would fail.

Built a home server and needed a drive that could handle staying on and huge capacity. This baby is so far working well so far, but it has only been a month. Either way, I would recommend for server use. I mean it is designed for it.

I purchased this recently to expand my storage and tranfrer data from some of my smaller extrnal drives. It works fine. (I did have to downlod a third party software to properly set up the unallocated storage.). This drive was nosiy when transferring files. I thought it would be less noisy after the transfers, but it is not. No other complaints.
