Failed to deliver its promise

So we bought one to use in our RV. The first place we camped had a very weak (but present) signal. Hooked up this device with great expectations. But it made absolutely no difference, despite the green light indicating it was working. Returned it to store, now a little wiser.

I kept getting the error (light combination) that my antennas were to close together. I had it in my RV so I was able to place them as far apart as the cables would allow. A distance much larger than the length of a car or truck so, I'm not sure how it could possibly work on a vehicle.
