A: It’s a proximity device and it works with all US carriers.
A: Difference in power. 12 volt dc verse 110 ac. Also the broadcast signal is much more narrow with the vehicle version. Must be within about 12 inches of booster although directions state 30 inches. The home version has a larger broadcast range but receiving and broadcast antenna must be much further apart than vehicle model. If they get to close it causes a feedback loop.
Q: How does this plug into your car? Cigarette lighter?
A: Yes. It plugs into a cigarette lighter plug with an on/off toggle switch so you don’t accidentally drain your car battery.
A: I am using this for home purposes and the exterior antenna needs to be placed in a clear area outside away from windows. I have a metal pole that the magnet of the exterior antenna sticks to. I then wired through a window (which is closed) to connect to the "hub". I keep the interior antenna close to my phone and I have not dropped a call since. Don't worry about damaging the cable when connecting the exterior antenna to the hub. The cable is sturdy and can be closed in a window without affecting the signal. The directions even say the same thing. You will need an AC adapter to power in home, I also got that at Best Buy.
