||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My experience with the support number associated with the installation error in the product as well as the response from at the store from the Geek Squad and Customer services was less than satisfactory. After 20 minutes of 2 different persons explaining "Ransomware" to me - which did not address the issue since it was a new computer and our "network" did not have any Ransomware on it. I decided to return the product (serial number not activated) at this point. At the store, I was then given the spiel about open software policy, not much they could do and they could see what the "system" would allow regarding the return. All I wanted was my $20 bucks back and to cancel any subscription to the protection software thru Webroot. Lots of money spent at Best Buy in the last year. Just a shame.

Posted .Viruses are always written for a specific platform. A virus written for Windows can only run on a Windows machine. Now consider that the aim of a computer virus is to spread to as many other machines as possible, much like the common cold spreads through the population when we hit winter. Attackers are obviously going to most often target the platform that the majority of people use in order to get the best return from their attack. And that platform happens to be Windows. Mac systems do still have vulnerabilities, however they are not exploited as often as Windows is. That being said, there are plenty of threats designed for the MacOS, and that's where Webroot will be valuable to you as a Mac user.

Took over a month for Best Buy to decide it was not worth repairing and to allow me to get a new one, however; I was without a computer all this time. I also lost all the info on the "bad" computer because it was not sent back to store in McKinney.
